WHAT IS IPL?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. Also known as a “photo facial”, it delivers broadband light through the skin for skin rejuvenation. It is a non-invasive, collagen-producing treatment for uneven skin tone. IPL can also help lessen the appearance of pigmented spots, reduce pore size, and improve texture and fine lines.
HOW DOES IPL WORK?
IPL delivers high intensity pulses of broadband light that is non-ablative, meaning that is does not damage the surface of the skin. The light penetrates multiple layers of the skin while leaving top layers unaffected. This causes the pigmentation to darken and eventually flake off on its own within 7-10 days.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY APPOINTMENT?
Most people will have slight redness and swelling, but the majority of people return to work the same day. Makeup can be applied immediately after treatment. It is important to wear a sunscreen daily with SPF 30 or greater with Zinc Oxide. For at least two weeks before and after treatment, it is important that you limit sun exposure. Exposure to the sun after treatment increases chances of hyperpigmentation and blistering.
HOW LONG WILL MY RESULTS LAST?
Most people need 3-5 treatments spaced four weeks apart.
