Waxing
WHAT IS WAXING?
Waxing is the process of removing hair from the root using a sticky substance like wax to pull out the hair from the follicle.
HOW DOES WAXING WORK?
While we offer laser hair reduction, not all our patients choose this method for removing unwanted hair. Because of that, we offer full body waxing in our Aesthetics clinic. Waxing is a way of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root. New hair will not grow back in the waxed area for two to eight weeks, although some people will start to see regrowth in only a week.
Before waxing, it is important that you hydrate and moisturize. Drinking water and applying moisturizer on a daily basis is not only beneficial to your body leading up to a wax, but highly beneficial to your overall health. Combining these things will produce a better waxing result.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY APPOINTMENT?
Before waxing, allow your hair to grow 1/8th to 1/4th of an inch. This is an ideal length for the wax to grip the hair and remove it directly from the root. If you are transitioning between waxing and shaving, avoid shaving after a wax and if your hair is starting to grow, as shaving reverses the effect of waxing. It is also beneficial for you to exfoliate as it will help soften body hair and open up hair follicles, making waxing an easier and less painful process. On the day of your procedure, please do not moisturize in order to let the wax adhere more freely to your hair.
The wax will be applied on your skin, allowing it to grip your hair. The wax is then removed and the hair is pulled directly from the root. Waxing can be an uncomfortable experience and the more relaxed you are, the less painful the experience will be. However, the result is worth it. Your skin will feel luxuriously soft and smooth.
HOW LONG WILL MY RESULTS LAST?
Waxing is a fairly long-lasting method of hair removal and can last from 3 to 6 weeks. The hair grows back more softer and sparser, not stubbly. If you wax consistently, waxing will change the growth cycle and physiology of your hair follicle. Continued waxing will also cause hair growth to diminish over time. It is the process of weakening the hair follicle with repeated treatment that reduces the hair growth.
